Making Changes to Your Benefits
Changes to your health and welfare benefits may only be made during the specific periods listed below:
- Within 30 Days of Eligibility
Newly hired employees, or those returning from an unpaid leave, have 30 days from their eligibility date to enroll in benefits.
- Within 30 Days of a Qualifying Event
You may be eligible to make changes to your benefits if you experience a qualifying life event such as marriage, entering a domestic partnership, the birth or adoption of a child, or obtaining legal guardianship. In these cases, a “Membership Change Form” must be submitted to the HR Department within 30 days of the event.
- During Open Enrollment
Each year, from October 1 through September 30, CJUSD holds its annual Open Enrollment period. This is your opportunity to review your current coverage and make changes, such as adding or removing dependents or selecting a different plan. Any changes made during this time will take effect on October 1.
