Interdistrict Transfer (Outside of District)
Transfer Requests will be accepted beginning January 15 through July 15 for the following school year.
Transfers for the current year may occur when families move during the academic year. Employment-based transfer requests out of CJUSD to another district must include proof of employment and must meet criteria set out by CA Education Code. Failure of a parent/guardian to meet any timelines established by the District shall be deemed an abandonment of the request.
Transfers are acted upon within 30 calendar days. Denied requests can be appealed to the county board of education within 30 calendar days from the date of the final denial. CA Education Code states:
- For an interdistrict transfer request received by the district 15 or fewer calendar days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the transfer is sought, the district will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision within 30 calendar days from the date the request was received.
- For an interdistrict transfer request received by the district more than 15 days before the commencement of instruction in the school year for which the interdistrict transfer is sought, the district will notify the parent/guardian of its final decision as soon as possible, but no later than 14 calendar days after the commencement of instruction in the school year for which transfer is sought.
An interdistrict transfer may be revoked by CJUSD for failure to maintain good attendance, behavior (including dress code adherence), and academic effort. It should also be noted that parents accepting a transfer to a uniform school must maintain that particular dress code.
